The Confessions of a Lady Interview

Okay, first let me say how honored and excited I am about being a part of this great movement! Just a little story about how this came to life. There was a post on Facebook requesting a blogger to blog for an upcoming event and I immediately jumped on it. The founder of this organization and I communicated back and forth and I have the opportunity to be a guest blogger. I immediately mentioned to her that I wanted to do an interview with her and she said okay with no hesitation.  So I immediately prepped a few questions to ask her regarding her vision and goal for the upcoming event.

Me: Good morning Victoria. Where did the idea of The Confessions of a Lady come from?

Victoria: The idea came from JESUS. It was given to me in the midst of things that I was going through in life. I was being cast aside. Looked down upon. Being a victim of physical and mental abuse. No one gave me any chances to come out of any situation. I fell in a deep depression stage and attempted suicide many times. But, in the midst of it all I still prayed to God harder than I ever have in life. Then I came to a realization that there was an issue and I had to face it head on. Through it all, I was still determined to be a BETTER PERSON and OVERCOME my battles.

Me: What does imperfectly perfect mean and how can someone identify themselves as such?

Victoria: The background scripture of this comes from Psalm 139:14 - I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  Don't allow people to tell you who you are. We are all made differently by God! Your imperfections makes you perfect.

Me: What is your vision behind the event?

Victoria: My vision behind the event is to bring awareness to the open eye and let women know that they can get out. You are worth something. You are worth your life, health, children, and so much more. Some women get the opportunity to leave domestic issues and some don't. It doesn't matter how the abuse come, sexually, verbally, physically, and mentally. It's one thing to read a book versus to actually face the issue hands on. You have to confess and face your issues. We live in a culture where we have to deal with things and say nothing about it. But it's time for something to be said and for it to be heard.

Me: Just a couple of more questions and I'm done...lol.  How did you choose your speakers?

Victoria: Well, Starnisha Washington, I met through a mutual person and her story was just amazing. She is an advocate for working in the community and helping women and she has just inspired me so much. She has a story that needs to be told!  Erika Evans is powerhouse Psalmist and is known for her talent. She can't sing, she can SANG! She has a sweet spirit and I love her dearly.

Me: Last question. What is your goal to achieve from this event?

Victoria: To introduce my organization "The Confessions of a Lady" and to bring awareness to the open eye. I am not taking on any position of being ordained but I want to help the next woman out and encouraged them. Abuse can come from any angles in life and no deserves to be abused.

Me: Well, Victoria, I thank you for your time and I can't wait to attend the event on the February 20th. Thank you so much for your time and have a wonderful day.

Victoria: You too love!

That interview, clearly gave me LIFE because I have been in a place of where I wanted to give up on life as well. Little do we know, we are ALL connected some kind of way in life.

I mentioned to Victoria that not only do I support her vision, but I want to bless a young lady to be able to attend the event. So we will be doing a one-day giveaway to SPONSOR a ticket for a young lady that wants to attend. Stay tuned for that!  I think this is great what she is doing and something as such need to be supported in a POSITIVE way!

I want to thank Victoria Long for this opportunity and  I look forward to working with her on many more projects to come in the near future.

Until next time,
