Recap...One Destiny Night of Love

On Saturday evening, my husband and I attended the One Destiny Night of Love hosted by Pastors Leon & Tracy Wright. They are the founders of Destined for Greatness Ministry. This event was held at the Trussville Civic Center. It was absolutely lovely. There were couples there from all age range and it was just nice to get out the house. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves.

I met Pastor Tracy years ago through our jobs. We are both in the real estate market. She is a Real Estate Broker and I am a closing agent. So we have known each other for quite some time. We are also friends through our Facebook network and we keep in contact with each other through that channel. When she posted about the event, I immediately jumped on it and made reservations for my husband and me to attend. My husband was also looking forward to attending, so that made it even better. So guess what that means? DATE NIGHT was officially on the calendar for February 12, 2016, at 6:00 o'clock in the evening.

Upon arrival, we were greeted and had to complete a registration card of just basic information. That was nice because you want to always stay in contact with your guests. This is a great ministry for couples in general because they showcase how to always love each other and have fun. That's what I'm all about in my marriage, having fun!!  The decoration was beautiful.

Now to recap my evening Saturday, it went a little something like this:

1) There were three rules: Rule #1-Have Fun  Rule #2-Have Fun & Rule #3-of course, Have Fun. There were no children allowed and it wasn't based on a church atmosphere, but a NIGHT OF LOVE with your spouse/significant other.

2) Every Kiss begins with K!! I loved this idea. The object of this was to be affectionate with your spouse in PUBLIC. So you had to look in their eyes and tell them that you loved them and give them a KISS! Oh, I so enjoyed this!

3) Dancing. Every now and then, it's just nice to slow dance with your mate. Looking into each others eyes. Feeling the electricity between your bodies, YES!!

4) The FOOD!! Oh my gosh, the food was something like I would cook at home. Baked bar-b-que chicken, mashed potatoes, potato salad, green beans, corn, bread, salad, tea, punch, lemonade, and CAKE! Homemade, by Pastor Tracy's mom, cakes were delicious!

5) The Newlywed game. This was so cute and funny because the first set of questions were asked by the wives and the second set was asked by the husband. The first set of couples were easy and simple. There was a winner from that group. But the second set, it was just something about the Thomas' and the really cute couple that got every question right and we had to go into what we call a "TIE BREAKER". Very entertaining.

6) I bet the neighbor knows my name. Now, it is not on that level y'all, so get your mind back on the normal. We just simply went around the room introducing ourselves and telling the room something interesting about our marriage. See, it was the clean version...lol

7) Love Bingo. Just like the regular game bingo but about your spouse. You had to put an "X" on spaces such as "if you rub each others feet" or "if you have 3 or more kids".

But the highlight of the night was when the speakers, Pastor George Johnson, Jr. and, his wife, Kim Johnson, came before us all. The illustration on how something so small and simple can blow up into something big and cause the D word to come out, divorce.  My notes from their presentation are as follows:
Don't be so quick to give up on love. It's not so easy to start over again. We should be like the children of Israel, WRITE IT DOWN! Whenever you are mad at your spouse, start thinking and calling out some of the good things he or she has done. You don't want to impress others and not impress your spouse. The success of the world is anchored at your marriage. It takes strength to be married. 1) Marriage is a full-time job. You never clock out of your marriage like you would do a regular job. 2) Come into an agreement with each other. You never want to be at differences about or with each other. Nothing is better than a husband and wife being in agreement with each other. 3) Remember the covenant of marriage.  Make a Book of Covenant for your marriage.
I thought their presentation was wonderful. The key scripture Pastor Johnson came from was Mark chapter 4, verse 19, and it says: And the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

The ride back home with hubby was so worth it when we left the event. We talked and we also agreed to start our Book of Covenant for our marriage. What that book is when you write down the good things of the marriage. You write on the good characteristics of your spouse. It is something needed in ALL marriages. It was a great evening and I am truly looking forward to 2017 and bigger and better opportunities for this ministry. Oh and one more thing, they have videos  that give encouragement to other couples. So beneficial y'all. Go check it out!

Pastors Leon  & Tracy Wright, thank you for this ministry and continue to do what you are doing. See you all next year!

Until next time,
