The sizzling heat...when will it end?!?!

Is it me or this summer has been extremely long and hot?!? I mean whew! Now there are only two dates in the summer that I enjoy the most: my birthday (June 29th) and my wedding anniversary (July 10th). If it wasn’t for those days, who knows.  This summer has been extremely hot and stormy here in Alabama and I think I am ready for it to be over with.  My favorite time of the year is coming up and I can’t wait! FALL/AUTUMN!! But this summer, NOPE! I will be glad when it is ALL over with. The summer time attire is okay, but I’m not a fan of seeing the really short shorts on ladies that have “a lot” in assets and want to show the world your body. Now, before you go looking crazy let me say this. There is NOTHING WRONG being confident in your body. BUT, there is a proper way to do it.  But that’s another conversation for another day. Any who…

It seems as the longer the days are in the summer; the longer the heat is blazing. I mean who wants to be out in 104° weather? Not me! I want to be in somewhere that is cool and comfortable.  I have two dogs, Yogi and Thunder, and I hate to even let them out of the house when it’s that hot to use the bathroom. To me, it seems as your summer days are your busiest days of the year. I ready to leave my 8 to 5; and be excited about coming home and having that family feel that the fall season brings in.  It’s just so much better.  We have about 60 more days left in the summer heated days and I hope they fly by…lol!

Until next time,

SMOOCHES (with a little sizzling in it…lol)

My "decluttering" process!

As we get older in life, we either do two things: Cram more on to ourselves or get rid of some things. Well, I'm in the midst of getting rid of some things and some people. I have noticed that a lot of things that I participate in and some people that I associate myself with is really not worth it.  I have been cramming so much stuff onto my schedule, I forget to rest and take care of my family because I sometimes have a problem with saying no to some people. Now I will be guilty and say that I don't sometimes have a problem saying "no" to my husband and that's not fair. So, I have decided to "declutter" my life. Many of us take on this and that and really not realize what load we have now placed on ourselves. I am a wife. I am a mother. I am a full-time employee. I am a full-time student. I am work in the church. I sing in the choir at two churches. I am a choir director. I am the choir director for the State Sunbeam choir. I am the secretary for the local District Association choir. I also sometimes direct for that choir. I am a blogger. I like to hang with friends. I love to cook. I can keep this list going and going for some time, so I'm sure you get my point.  Oh one more thing, I have up to 3 choir rehearsals in a week. With all of this, I honestly don't know how to say "no" and take time for myself. But I have started to realize if I don't value my time, no one else will.

But sometimes, I have to keep my mind and body going. I think I am so tuned to always being on the go, that when I do stop and sit still, I'm uncomfortable.  Now don't get me wrong, I do have some free days during the week and on the weekend and I relax then. But I think those come "every blue moon".

My process actually started out with my immediate family. I sat down with my husband and asked him what he wanted from me and what type of wife that he wants me to be.  Now this does not mean being a slave, but it means being submissive to my husband. That is something us wives have a hard time doing, being submissive. Then I sat down with my son and asked him what is it that he wanted from me. Quite interesting conversations. Now, some would stop there because, within those two, that can be a full day of work. But I did not stop there.  I then went on to write down a list of things that I am constantly involved in. Boy was that list long!! I did not list it in any type of priority, I just listed them.  Then I gave a description of what my position is in that duty. After that, I then placed numbers by them of importance. It was kind of difficult because anything I do, is important to me. But after taking two days (honestly) in deciding what I was going to cut from my list, was not an easy task. Then the funny thing was, one of the items I cut from my list, I had 3 people call me to ask me to help out or do something in that area. I laughed at it, but I stood focus on what I had just told my family and myself of what I was going to do, declutter my life.

I know this is something won't improve overnight but as long as I stick to it, it will get better along the way. As I stated above if I don't take time out for myself, then no one else will.

Stay tuned for more...

Until next time,

Happy 5th year wedding anniversary to my husband and I!!

Five years ago, I got married. Five years later, I'm still married! HA!! It has not been easy. Heck, nothing in life is easy. But it has been an awesome journey that I would not trade for the world. He is my husband, my best friend, my prayer partner, my son's father, my personal GPS, my singer, my director, my laughing partner, my crying partner, my God-fearing man, my boyfriend, my lover, my chef, well, you get the point.
So many have said that we wouldn't make it. So many have their own opinion about us. So many have looked down on us. But God is still our guide in our marriage and we look to please Him and not man, so let them do want they want. God is blessing us and we stand firm on His word. We are going to continue this journey together and see what God has in store for us because THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!! Happy 5th year wedding anniversary Mr. Jerry Gaston, Jr! I love you and we are going to keep this thing going. 5 down...95 more to go!!!
Being married is what made me start this blog to share what I experience as a wife and maybe encourage another wife. Being married to someone that you will spend the rest of your life with that makes it easy, is a joy within itself. I am looking forward to so many anniversaries with this man that God has placed into my life and God doesn't do anything wrong.

Until next time,

What brings joy to your life?

The meaning of the word joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.  So the question is what brings great pleasure and happiness to you? Is it being with your husband? You know, quiet time. Is it being with your family? Is it hanging with your girlfriends? Shopping? Reading? Cooking? What is it? For me, personally, it is a lot of things. But I think the most important one is being with my family. I mean who doesn't like spending family time with family? I'm not talking about everyone in your family, but your immediate ones. You know, your husband and your kids.  We all are so busy with work, school, church, and keeping the home straight, that we forget to schedule family time. For me and my family, we really try to schedule either one day of the weekend to do family time.  There is a song that we sing in church that says "this joy I have the world didn't give it and the world can't take it away". There is some true to that song both spiritually and mentally. The spiritual side is referring to the joy that God gives you in spite of the evil things that go on around you.  The mental side is that natural love from your husband and kids is something that the world can't take from you.

It's very important to spend time with family.  You don't want to be so busy that your kids are growing up right before your eyes and  you miss it. Or, you forget that you're married? Okay, well maybe not forget that you're married, but you know, forget to say I love you or forget that it's his birthday or forget to compliment him, just because. Those things are important in a relationship and family so make sure you focus on them to give you that "joy" back.

So what brings "joy" to your life?!?!?

Until next time,

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July to you all!  Today is the day where not only do we enjoy great food, great fellowship with family and friends, a fantastic fireworks show, but we also celebrate and thank those that have and is currently serving our nation. Being "Independent" is the fact that we have the our own freedom and control for our country to do as we like. We may not accept everything that is going on in our country, but we are proud to say that we are AMERICANS! We are the "FREE" nation. We are the "PROUD" nation. We are the "NATION" that our four father's founded so that we could be free. It doesn't get any better than that. So if you see any service man or woman today, give them a handshake and tell them thank you for sacrificing their life for you so that we can continue to be "INDEPENDENT"!  Enjoy your family, food, fireworks, and most of all, have fun and be safe!!!

Again, from my family to yours, Happy 4th of July!

Until next time,

What does "my" blogging schedule look like?

Now, I will admit my guiltiness about this matter. I plan and organize EVERYTHING else around me. But honestly, I don’t have a blogging schedule. Yes, I will admit it, I don’t have a blogging schedule. Me, the organizer. Me, the planner. Me, that loves to stick to detail and being on time. I’m sure I’m not the only one that doesn’t have a blogging schedule. I may jot down some dates here and there on sticky notes and post them around on my desk but who doesn’t do that. I want to expand my blog and I know that I need to do more, but how do I go about doing it. I have plenty of calendar. I have reminders on my iPhone and iPad. I had email alerts. BUT, I don’t have a blogging schedule. Sad, I know. *holds head down but looks up with one eye open*

When I blog, it is a spur of the moment type thing and when I come up with a post that I want to share with the world. I’m on the social network. I network with other bloggers. I try to make it to local events. But I’m going to make a promise of trying to do better. I know, I have said that before but I am going to do better. Well, we have accomplish one thing already…admitting to it! Boy was that hard to do?!?!?

Last but certainly not least, I would like thank The SITSGIRLS for their July post on “Writing Prompts” for the entire month. This is a great help for me to stay on top of my writing for my blog! See, I have already started off to a great start!!! I now have me a schedule to do my posts.

Until next time,
